Complete your Cuillin Munros with confidence

Doing the Munros and need support on the technical ones?
Whether it’s the Cuillin or any other technical Munros, from the more interesting routes on
Ben Nevis to Glen Coe or Torridon, get the confidence you need to complete your Munros.

Choose what you want to achieve and book your Munro adventure.

Are you doing the Munros but dreading the Cuillin? Get specialised movement coaching to increase your scrambling confidence. Your calm, patient instructor will understand how you feel: you’ll get the time, space and encouragement you need to make completing your Munros a joy.

While most days out with us include an element of movement coaching, on a Build Confidence day it’s the primary focus—and there’s something for nearly everyone to learn! Whether it’s tackling steep loose scree or the steeper rock features, we’ll get you moving with confidence, focusing on the particular challenges the Cuillin offer.

More about your coaching

Your day’s coaching will help you build confident, fluid walking and climbing movement and will be tailored to your individual level and needs. If you’re nervous about abseils on the Inaccessible Pinnacle or Sgùrr nan Gillean, we’ll include less-intimidating abseils in your day so you can explore and understand how it all works.

Coaching can be run in many areas across Scotland; you don’t have to be on Skye to get ready for Skye! We’ll use terrain that’ll give you the best opportunities for practising your movement skills rather than simply getting you to a Munro summit on the day.

Want to:

  • Be comfortable on the steep, loose scree of the Cuillin?
  • Save your knees, reduce your dependence on poles and finish the day less tired (and so in greater safety)?
  • Ache less the following day?
  • Increase your chances of being in a flow state when scrambling or walking?

Are you a Munroist needing to complete the Cuillin Ridge but worried about having to go out in the often poor conditions? Our Cuillin Munros courses have a rest day inbuilt as standard to maximise your chance of success.

Over four out of five days, we’ll aim to climb every Munro on the main Cuillin Ridge. The fifth day lets us have a rest day if the long days are getting to your body or if one day looks particularly wild!

Climbing all 11 Munros isn’t guaranteed and will depend on how we get on, the weather etc. While we can stack the odds in our favour with an in-built rest day (or two or more), we can never guarantee success.

More about this course

This is a demanding course and you’ll need to be fit and prepared for long days. While it’s difficult to give exact figures in a place like the Cuillin, expect to be out for 8 to 10 hours on at least three of the four days. The distances aren’t long but the terrain is punishing. Individual Cuillin Munro days (or more rest days) will be appropriate for some people. You can boost the benefits of this course by:

  • Booking a Movement Coaching day before the course to increase your enjoyment and confidence.
  • Adding extra rest days.
  • Adding an extra day to complete all 12 Munros on Skye. Many people are happy doing Blaven on their own but some like extra support to help them manage the extensive steep scree and bleak navigational conditions. At the other end of the spectrum, if you’re really enjoying the scrambling, take on the great but technical Clach Glas to Blaven traverse to complete your Skye triumph!

Long days aren’t for everyone but if you’re up to it they can be a great way of exploring the Cuillin or bagging Munros while saving some money. Get in touch today to chat through your ideas.

What you need to know before you book

  • Weather conditions, your fitness and movement will dictate how much ground we cover.
  • This day costs £460 but if the outing is less than 9 hours and we do no more than three Munros, we will reduce the cost to our normal day rate and refund you the difference.
  • Cheaper than paying for two days for the same number of Murnos.
  • Usually capped at five Munros in a day but we may occasionally do more if we’re moving quickly.
  • Often best in good weather so consider booking a rest day to increase your chance of a good forecast.

Alpine-scale climbing in the UK

Discover the hidden secrets of the ‘British Alps’

The Cuillin, and the north face of Ben Nevis, are the only truly Alpine-scale mountains in the UK. We’re lucky to call them our home from home.

As part of your day, your instructor Mehmet will pass on his extensive knowledge about the geology, flora, mountain history and weather. Most days will include elements of his trademarked* Movement Coaching to help you get the most out of your time in the mountains now and in the future.

* Not really trademarked at all, just very Mehmet!

“Just climbed all 11 Skye Cuillin Munros over 4 days with our fantastic guide Mehmet. It was a truly unforgettable experience having previously only tackled grade 2 scrambling! Mehmet was extremely professional and also great company. We learned so much about the Cuillin themselves and how to move confidently around them; we always felt 100% safe. My technique vastly improved as a direct result of his coaching.” Naomi

“Lucky enough to be guided by Mehmet on a 4-day course to bag the 11 Cuillin Munros on Skye… His encouragement, reassurance, knowledge and skills put me at ease on these particularly tricky Munros and helped me remain just on the edge of my comfort zone enough to be challenged but also enjoy it and feel safe.” Lindsay

“Having only climbed 8 Munros, the 11 Skye Black Cuillin Munros felt like a daunting task. Our guide Mehmet… built my confidence by taking on the easier climbs/scrambles first before moving onto the more challenging approaches, providing hints and tips in safe areas so that I was prepared when it mattered… Thanks for providing such a great experience and knowledge that will be useful on future Munros!" Coaching from a qualified expert

I’ve been climbing on Skye since 2002. After my first trip, I couldn’t wait to get back! I had no idea, back then, that I’d end up spending most of my working life here—and getting to know the Cuillin Ridge in such intimate detail.

I’m a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI) and a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and the Mountain Training Association.

I’ve a lively enthusiasm for coaching and have been scrambling since 2002. As well as running my own coaching business, I’m a freelance instructor at Glenmore Lodge, Scotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre.
